Welcome to Hurlston Hall Monthly!
August has arrived, and with it, the height of summer at Hurlston Hall.
This month, we’ve got another full schedule of competitions, course developments, and exciting events to keep you inspired—whether you’re fine-tuning your game, catching up with friends over a few holes, or soaking in the social atmosphere.
So, mark your calendar, swing into the updates below, and as always, thank you for being such an important part of Hurlston Hall.

Sunday 31st August | Gold Medal Competition | Open to Off-Peak members who have played in 6 competitions which are acceptable for handicap and won a medal competition. Winners of previous year automatically go through to the Gold Medal. |
Friday 17th October | A Night with Billy Foster | Join us for a memorable night at Hurlston Hall featuring legendary caddie Billy Foster. |

Buggy status: All buggies are operational and are on a first come first serve basis - we recommend you call the Golf Shop in advance to reserve your buggy.

Membership Notices
Bag Tags are now available to collect from the General Office - If any member hasn't never had one please come pick up yours.
Please be reminded that when booking your complimentary guest passes, lessons, personal training sessions, or redeeming your 30% discount at the Scullery, you must present your voucher card on arrival. Without your voucher card, you may not be entitled to these offers. If you have not yet received your voucher card please visit the Golf Shop at your earliest convenience to collect it.
If members wish to use their complimentary guest green fee passes we recommend calling the Golf Shop to book directly so that you do not get charged for the round. We are unable to refund payments to members who pay for guests and later wish to use their complimentary round instead.
September renewal emails have been sent out, so please keep an eye on your email inbox (and spam/junk folder) for further details. For those members who are due to renew their membership in September, a reminder that payment can now be made via the preferred method through the IG App. Other options include BACS or at the Golf Shop till. If you pay your membership in full, please ensure your fees are paid no later than Friday 29th August to avoid any disruption to your membership.
Please note the Golf Services Manager is on annual leave from Saturday 16th August - Sunday 24th August. If you need to discuss any changes to your membership please contact him before or after the above dates.

Member Spotlight
This month we introduce a new section called "Member Spotlight" were we will chat with members and staff from around the golf club. This month we start with our Captain, Roy Nevin, who’s been with the club since 2014.
Read about their favourite hole on the course, top tips, and most memorable moment!
Q: What first brought you to the golf club? Roy: I was part of a golf society that played at Hurlston Hall.
Q: What’s your favourite hole on the course — and why? Roy: The 18th – Because it’s by the bar.
Q: What part of your game do you love the most — or hate the most? Roy: Love my chipping and hate my putting.
Q: Are you more competitive or social when it comes to golf? Roy: 100% Social.
Q: Whats it like being the club’s captain? Roy: It is quite cool, mainly because of the reserved car park and Saturday Tee-times.
Q: If you could play a round with any golfer (past or present), who would it be?
Roy: John Daly – I think he’s a cool character.
Q: What’s your dream golf destination or bucket list course? Roy: Walt Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Florida with the Mickey Mouse Bunker.
Q: Any hidden talents or surprising hobbies off the course? Roy: I’m really good at drinking beer.
Q: Favourite clubhouse memory or event? Roy: Captain Summer BBQ Bash 2025 – I loved the event.
Q: What advice would you give to new members? Roy: Not be afraid to speak to all members if you need someone to play with, the golf club is a friendly place there are lots of people to play with.
Q: What keeps you coming back to Hurlston Hall week after week? Roy: The people.
Q: Who at the club has inspired or helped your game the most?
Roy: Whoever is behind the bar when I finish my round.

Notices & Quick Bits
Reminder to all members if you book a tee-time for yourself with a guest/s or fellow members, but do not enter the names of all players (i.e., leave one or more spaces blank/anonymous), you have 24-hours to update the booking. After this period, if the tee time remains incomplete, it will be automatically cancelled from the system and confirmed by email. We, therefore encourage members to only book for the number of players needed, to help ensure fair access to tee times for all members.
Please also note that the Golf Team do not cancel bookings without notifying members, and only acts on a member’s direct instruction when cancelling tee-times.

Lost & Found: Please collect any lost property from the Golf Shop before the end of each month. All property will be dispose off on the last day of each month.
