Welcome to Hurlston Hall Monthly!
A new year has begun, and with it comes a fresh chapter at Hurlston Hall. January may bring frosty mornings and a quieter rhythm around the course, but there’s no shortage of activity as we ease into 2026 with renewed energy and exciting plans ahead. Our greens team has been hard at work throughout the winter break, ensuring the course remains in excellent condition for those determined to start the year with a crisp, refreshing round.
This month, we’ll be sharing updates on our early-season competitions, upcoming coaching opportunities, and a look at what’s in store for the club as we head into another year of golf, community, and continued improvement.
Whether you’re kicking off 2026 with ambitious golfing goals, enjoying a peaceful winter tee time, or simply dropping by the clubhouse to stay warm and catch up with friends, we’re delighted to begin the year with you at Hurlston Hall.
We’d love your input! If you have any ideas for making the newsletter better, or if there’s anything you’d like to see more of, please share your thoughts after reading in the comments section.
Wishing all our members a Happy New Year, and thank you for your continued support. Here’s to another great year of golf ahead!

Golf Course Updates

Course Manager's Blog
If you haven’t already, stay up to date with the latest course developments by reading the Course Manager’s Blog here.
We always welcome your feedback so please share any comments to help us continue improving the course.
Despite the recent wet conditions, the greens are responding well following their renovation work. Verti-draining and light topdressing have encouraged healthy recovery, and the height of cut has been slightly raised to promote stronger turf and minimise disease pressure. As a result, greens may feel a touch slower for the time being.
Pitch marks continue to be a common entry point for disease, so your help in repairing them promptly is greatly appreciated and goes a long way in keeping the putting surfaces true. Elsewhere on the course, bunker renovations are progressing well, with new sand and improved drainage being installed to ensure they’re performing at their best for the coming season.
Winter Mats Reminder – Important Course Guidelines
As winter conditions set in, we want to remind all members that the use of Winter Mats is compulsory in the general area of the course. The general area includes all parts of the course except:
Teeing areas,
Putting greens,
Bunkers,
Penalty areas
Important notes for Winter:
Winter Mats may be used on the teeing area.
Please refer to the daily course update each morning.
You must not use your putter when your ball is on a mat (Rule E-12).
All bunkers are currently G.U.R. (Ground Under Repair) – please avoid them.
Following these guidelines helps protect your course during the winter months and ensures the best playing conditions for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!
Buggy & Trolley Status Please keep an eye on the daily course status updates for Winter regarding buggy/trolley usage on the golf course.

Thank you for helping us maintain the welcoming atmosphere that makes our club special.
Gentle Reminder: Checking In & Respect Tee-Time Bookings
To help us keep the golf course enjoyable for everyone, we kindly remind all members that they must check-in at the Golf Shop before heading out. This allows the golf team to know who’s on the course at any given time throughout the day. This simple step supports the club in managing the course responsibly and ensures everything operates as it should throughout the day.
We also want to make sure all members have a fair chance to book tee-times. If you can no longer make your tee-time whether you’re playing in a 1, 2, 3, or 4-ball, it is your responsibility for managing and maintaining your tee-time bookings not the lead booker. Members who book tee-times and do not attend will be contacted directly, therefore please cancel any tee-times as early as possible so another member has the opportunity to play.
