Welcome to Hurlston Hall Monthly!
September brings a new season to Hurlston Hall. As summer winds down and autumn begins, there’s still plenty to enjoy both on and off the course — from exciting competitions and club events to social evenings and coaching highlights.

Jamie Carragher 23 Foundation Golf Day
We are delighted to be hosting the 2nd annual Jamie Carragher 23 Foundation Charity Golf Day at Hurlston Hall on Friday, 19th September. It promises to be a fantastic day of golf, networking, and fundraising all in support of a great cause.

An Exclusive Evening with Billy Foster on Friday 17th October

A Night with Billy Foster
The OBG Trophy Returns – Friday 24th October
We are delighted to announce that the OBG Trophy will take place on
Friday 24th October.
This much-anticipated annual competition promises a great day of golf and friendly rivalry.
The format will be a 4-ball team event, with each team comprising 1 member of staff and 3 members. The competition will be played as a shotgun start, ensuring all teams tee off together and finish together before an evening meal and prize presentation.
Further details, including entry information and timings, will follow shortly – so keep an eye out for updates.

A big congratulations to Debbie Ray, who won her first ever competition on Wednesday 27th August with an excellent score of 39 points.
This is a fantastic milestone and a well-deserved achievement — well done, Debbie!
We’d also like to take a moment to congratulate William Boar on his fantastic progress in improving his handicap.
William set himself the goal of achieving a 20 handicap, and through hard work and regular participation in our Thursday Senior Coaching Sessions, he’s made impressive strides towards that target.
Well done, Billy! A great example of what commitment and practice can achieve!

Buggy Status All buggies are fully operational and available on a first-come, first-served basis. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling the Golf Shop in advance to reserve your buggy.
Membership Notices
Important Reminder: Don’t Forget Your Member’s Card!
From 1st September, please remember to present your Member’s Card whenever you visit the Scullery Bar, Restaurant, or Golf Shop.
This ensures you:
Receive your member discount,
Can use any prepaid balances,
If you don’t show your card to staff, your bill will be charged at full price.
So, keep your card handy and make the most of your membership benefits!
Guest Passes To use your complimentary guest green fee passes, please call the Golf Shop directly to book. This ensures you won’t be charged during booking — as refunds cannot be issued once payment is made.
October membership renewals have been emailed — please check your inbox (and junk folder just in case).
Members renewing in October can make payment through the preferred method on the IG App. Alternative way to pay is via BACS, or at the Golf Shop till.
If you pay your membership in full, please ensure payment is made by Sunday 28th September to avoid any disruption.
Members on Direct Debit your membership will renew automatically.
If you'd like to make any changes please contact the Golf Services Manager by Wednesday 24th September.

Member Spotlight
This month in our Member Spotlight, we sat down with Heather Kenny, our new Assistant Food & Drinks Manager, who’s been part of Hurlston Hall since 2021.
Heather has already made a big impact behind the bar and in the Scullery, but there’s plenty more to learn about her — from her golf journey to her hidden talents!
Q: What first brought you to Hurlston Hall as a Golfer?
Heather: It started with my husband, who plays golf, buying me some lessons.
Q: Where did you work previously to Hurlston Hall?
Heather: I ran my own pub, The Golden Lion in Ormskirk, for 24 years.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you as Assistant Food & Drinks Manager?
Heather: Assisting with the running of the Scullery Bar and Restaurant, keeping all areas clean and tidy, and looking after both staff and members.
Q: Members often have their favourite“19th hole” drink — what’s the most popular order at the bar?
Heather: Definitely San Miguel or Poretti.
Q: What’s has been most memorable or funniest moment you’ve experienced while working behind the bar so far?
Heather: Watching people tee off from 1st and 10th - it makes me feel like my golf isn't that bad after all!
Q: If you could create a signature Hurlston Hall drink, what would be in it and what would you call it?
Heather: I'd call it "Hole-in-One" and it would be a Baby Guinness.
Q: Any hidden talents or surprising hobbies off the course?
Heather: I'm ambidextrous - I play golf right handed but pull pints left handed!
Q: Outside of work, you play golf — what's your handicap and favourite hole on the course to play?
Heather: I'm a 30 Handicap and the 4th is my favourite, it's nice and easy for me.
Q: This was provided by Roy Nevin - Who is your favourite Captain?
Heather: I'll say Jane Sarhan, because she was Captain when I joined and referred me. Sorry Rachel!
